CMP RIMFIRE SPORTER GAMES
On Saturday, September 17,2022, TCMSA will host the CMP Rimfire Sporter Games. These games are open to everyone, members, spouses and kids. The gate will be open, and non-members are welcome to participate. We are looking forward to the Boy Scouts participating. The CMP games is the same course they use for their merit badge.
Set up is at 0730, and shooting starts at 0800. Depending on attendance, multiple relays may happen.
This event is free, just bring a rifle and ammunition.
The CMP Games are designed for fun as well as developing rifle skills for all participants. All that is required is a .22 LR sporter, like a Ruger 10-22, Marlin or Henry lever gun, any Marlin, Ruger, Remington, Mossberg semi auto, lever or bolt gun. If it has sights, is a repeater, and shoots .22LR, it works.
From the 50 yard line, you will use prone and either kneeling or sitting. From the 25 yard line, you will be standing. All positions require 10 rounds slow fire, and two strings of 5 rounds rapid fire. You will need 60 rounds for record plus sighters.
Shooting jackets and shooting gloves are not allowed. Non padded gloves and slings are allowed. A shooting mat and spotting scope are useful, carpets pieces are available and there will be people with spotting scopes to assist those that don’t have one.
There are different classifications for barrel mounted sights, aperture sights, scopes, and rifles with pistol grips or thumb hole stocks. Scopes are limited to 6 power or less, just set your variable to 6 and you are good.
This is nothing but fun. You need to try this, you will not be disappointed.
