General Announcements

The 2017 club calendar is up on the website. As always, it may be updated as new things come up, but we hope these changes will be minimal. Be sure to take a look at the calendar before you head out to the range, and pay special attention to which events allow general shooting while the event is going on. We don’t want you to waste your time or fuel driving out to the range if you won’t be able to shoot.

Membership: Dues: It is $80 to join with renewals at $60, or $40 if you participated in a work party in the last year. If the renewal is late (after July 1st) you will need to rejoin at $80. You can mail your renewal to the club address during Jan/Feb to save from being on long lines during meetings, or come to a meeting to renew but face the lines. Also please remember that our membership committee is made up of volunteers, and all of them have day jobs, and remember that all mail in the Tri-Cities now goes through Spokane, so make sure to send in your renewal early so you don’t get locked out.

Reminder: There has also been a policy change, you must renew before July 1 or you will be considered a new member, meaning dues will be $80 and you must go through new member orientation again.

TCMSA wants you to know: Don’t handle firearms AT ALL while the range is cold. This includes firearms that are in a case, in your car, in the racks, or on the line. DON’T TOUCH THEM AT ALL until the line goes hot.

Match Reports: Gaylord said the Dec. 3rd CMP match had 11 shooters. The next match is Jan 7th. Due to weather conditions-cold/snow he won’t be attending. Dave said he’d go out in case shooters showed up. The Dec 10th .22 rimfire match had 13 shooters-2 women and 1 junior. The next match is Jan 14th. The Dec 17th SHP was called due to extreme cold. The next match is Jan 21st. There was no report for the Dec 31st Benchrest match. The next match is Jan 28th.

Board Report: Dave said the board discussed 2 issues. One was finding a larger meeting space for less crowding. The second was the continued land search. They have written to the winning Franklin Co. Commissioner to see where he stands on the previous land swap idea, and how he feels about a possible purchase/swap with land owners-property previously land-locked before the new road access near Juniper dunes.

Safety Committee Report: Dave said no issues reported.

Reminder: Members are responsible for all the guests they bring to the range.

Range Report: Greg said he dumps the trash once a week at the range. Not many shooters out there lately. He said 1 target frame at the east end of the pistol area needs re-welding, but it can’t be removed since frozen into the ground. It’ll have to wait for the spring thaw. This range is ALL our responsibility. All members should be safe and considerate of the facility and its contents. Every member is accountable for the condition of the range.

OLD BUSINESS: There were no new nominations. Ballots were passed out to current members. Gaylord reminded that all officer and 2 board positions are up. Also there is a vote on the dues increase of $20 for join-renew-work party renew. All officers remained the same. The Board positions were filled by Ron Greer and Mark Johnson. The raise in dues was approved by a 2-vote margin. It will be implemented April 1st.

NEW BUSINESS: Cozy shared the Jan 20-22 Sportsman’s show pellet rifle booth is being organized by Ron Ruth of Rich. Rod and Gun club. He has shifts open Fri-Sat-Sun and is looking for more volunteers. They are 4 hr shifts, and you get into the show for free. If interested, his # is 737-7350. From the floor, Charles Krause shared that he was speaking for some members that would like to have a muzzle loader competition. He had course of fire, guidelines written up. Gaylord checked with Dave/the board, and it was decided that the proposal needed to be evaluated by the board first. They received the paperwork, and will address at their next meeting. Roy shared that Friends of NRA in Hermiston had a 54 gun raffle going-tickets $50, and tax deductible. P/u is in Hermiston. He also said the Washington chapter of Friends of NRA was #1 in raising funds last year. About $236,000 in grants will be given out in Feb. He reminded that our club has always supported the Friends NRA banquet in the past. He moved that we purchase a table for 8 and an extra raffle- ticket bundle for $700. It was moved and 2nd…purchase approved. Mark moved that the dinner tickets go to officers and board members as service thank you’s. Approved.
