General Announcements

The 2017 club calendar is up on the website. As always, it may be updated as new things come up, but we hope these changes will be minimal. Be sure to take a look at the calendar before you head out to the range, and pay special attention to which events allow general shooting while the event is going on. We don’t want you to waste your time or fuel driving out to the range if you won’t be able to shoot.

Membership: Dues: It is $80 to join with renewals at $60, or $40 if you participated in a work party in the last year. If the renewal is late (after July 1st) you will need to rejoin at $80. You can mail your renewal to the club address during Jan/Feb to save from being on long lines during meetings, or come to a meeting to renew but face the lines. Also please remember that our membership committee is made up of volunteers, and all of them have day jobs, and remember that all mail in the Tri-Cities now goes through Spokane, so make sure to send in your renewal early so you don’t get locked out.

Reminder: There has also been a policy change, you must renew before July 1 or you will be considered a new member, meaning dues will be $80 and you must go through new member orientation again.

TCMSA wants you to know: Steel core bullets on steel targets make sparks, & sparks make fires. If you don’t know if you are shooting steel core bullets, check them on the magnet next to the flag pole.

Match Reports: Gaylord said the March 4th CMP had 10 shooters and the April 1st match had 16 shooters. The next match is May 6th. The March 11th .22 match had 23 shooters with 3 women. The next match is April 8th. The March 18th SHP had 9 shooters. The next match is April 15th. Bob Byers said the March 19th 3-gun match had 11 shooters, and there’s room for more. Equipment is available to borrow if you need. The next match is April 29th. Bob Birney said the March 25th benchrest match had 8 shooters. The next match –April 22nd- is a registered match, but Varmint shooters welcome and don’t have to compete with the registered match shooters.

Board Report: Bob said they met last week-March 27th. A Franklin Co Commissioner attended and supports our efforts to obtain range property. He said the S.A. program was discussed-Mark will speak in detail. They are finishing up updating/refining range rules.

Safety Committee Report: Dave said due to work duties, he was passing on the running of the program to Mark, and would be his assistant. Mark said the S.A. program would begin April 28th and go through hunting season. After that range use slows down. He showed orange t-shirts he has for the advisors that can replace the orange vests. He is also looking into b-ball type hats. The Advisors main function is to educate and facilitate communication with shooters at the range re: cold range/hot range/etc. They are NOT range officers. All members are still responsible for their actions and those of their guests. He is creating an on-line calendar to see and sign-up for open S.A. time slots.

Reminder: Members are responsible for all the guests they bring to the range.

Range Report: Greg not present, but it was shared that 24 attended the work party, and a lot was accomplished.

This range is ALL our responsibility. All members should be safe and considerate of the facility and its contents. Every member is accountable for the condition of the range.

OLD BUSINESS: Gaylord shared that at the March 4th Friends of NRA banquet, the TCMSA club won some Steiner binoculars and carry case. From the floor Dave moved that in recognition of Greg’s work at the range-emptying garbage 3x wk, running all work parties, etc, that they be awarded to him. It was 2nd and approved. Gaylord will make sure he gets them.

NEW BUSINESS: Bob Birney said the Friends of NRA have given just shy of $400,000 in grants for the state. There is a raffle for a Keltec PMR and CMR. Only 200 tickets, and $20 ea. See him after the meeting if interested. Mark commented on what a mess the sign-in trailer is, and Dave nominated him for a ‘clean-up’ committee, but from the floor Kelly Hector and one other volunteered to straighten-clean-organize it. Don Board said the shotgun gun-racks were pointing the wrong way, but a member said the S.A.’s had fixed the problem. So-never mind…From the floor, Phil asked about possible wind flags at 200 yds, like Rattlesnake. Dave/Gaylord said that was being planned and one was ordered.
